MPs congratulate C@LL for our National PTA Award win and promise to fight for disabled children

After the news C@LL had won PTA Of The Year at the Parentkind national awards two local MPs have been in touch with the team to say congratulations and look at the work we did in lockdown.

Fleur Anderson, MP for Putney, came to meet Linden Lodge children, parents and staff at the Wimbledon Common Walk Day. She said: “Congratulations to C@LL for winning the National PTA of the Year Award, it is a wonderful achievement. Thank you for inviting me to the open day, I really enjoyed meeting lots of children and parents and seeing the magic show. I know it’s been really hard during the pandemic and you’ve faced even more challenges than usual, so it was great to have fun.

“Being able to support each other, together with all the wonderful teachers at Linden Lodge, is so important as the pandemic continues to affect us all.

“I have signed up to become a Parliamentary Disabled Children’s Champion and hope to come and visit all the children during a normal school day soon. I’ve supported a lot of families with children with special needs and disabilities during the pandemic, so do contact your MP (me if you are local) if you need help in working with your Local Authority as well as anything I can raise in Parliament.”

Stephen Hammond MP for Wimbledon met with C@LL Chair Naseem Walker, outgoing Chair Jerome McKay and outgoing secretary Sam Carlisle to discuss our win and to find out more about life with disabled children.

Mr Hammond was also keen to stress he is available to support families if you are struggling to find support. He has also signed up to be a Disabled Children’s Champion in Parliament.

Stephen said: “I wanted to meet some members of the Linden Lodge PTA to congratulate them on their recent award. As you know the PTA is providing vital information and a support network to parents. I recognise that “the system“ all too often is hard to navigate and feels broken and as an MP I want to help overcome those obstacles.”

We really appreciate the interest both Stephen and Fleur have taken in our families and C@LL and look forward to working with them in the future.
